Microsoft has recently launched its Copilot app for iOS and iPadOS, hot on the heels of its Android introduction. This new app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.
The Copilot app allows users to interact with Microsoft's AI chatbot, initially known as Bing Chat. It operates similarly to OpenAI's ChatGPT mobile app. Users can ask questions, draft emails, summarise text, and create images by integrating with the DALL-E3 text-to-image generator.
Enhanced capabilities with GPT-4
One of the standout features of Copilot is its use of GPT-4, the latest large language model from OpenAI. This elevates it above the free version of ChatGPT, which uses the older GPT-3.5 model. Moreover, Copilot provides access to these enhanced capabilities without needing a subscription.
Microsoft's strategic rebranding
With the rebranding of Bing Chat to Copilot, Microsoft is moving towards providing a standalone experience similar to ChatGPT. This move has involved launching apps on Android and Apple devices and creating a separate web experience for Copilot, independent of Bing.
