MediaTek has just introduced its latest Helio G100 chipset to enhance the performance of 4G gaming phones. This new chipset is essentially an upgraded version of the G99, featuring several improvements that set it apart from its predecessor.

Key features of the Helio G100

The Helio G100 is built on an octa-core CPU architecture, similar to the G99. It includes two powerful ARM Cortex-A76 cores and six efficient Cortex-A55 cores. This combination ensures a balance between performance and power efficiency. Additionally, the chipset supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 , which are also features of the G99. This means you can expect quick data access and smooth multitasking capabilities.

Enhanced camera and connectivity

One of the most significant upgrades in the Helio G100 is its support for a 200MP main camera, a substantial increase from the G99's 108MP limit. This improvement allows for capturing incredibly detailed photos, making the chipset ideal for photography enthusiasts using mid-range phones.

Another notable feature is the new Elevator mode, designed to enhance connectivity. This mode helps your phone quickly regain a mobile connection when you emerge from areas without coverage, such as lifts or underground locations. Both the G99 and G100 come with Cat-13 4G LTE modems, ensuring robust network performance.

Market availability and impact

Chinese phone brand Tenco was the first to release a phone powered by the Helio G100 chipset more than a week ago. This indicates that MediaTek has already started supplying the new chipset to other manufacturers. Consequently, you can expect a range of mid-range Android devices featuring the Helio G100 to hit the market in the coming months.

The introduction of the Helio G100 promises to deliver better gaming experiences, enhanced camera capabilities, and improved connectivity for mid-range smartphone users.
